Don't assume people

I had a lovely evening with pals and the topic of how people often misconstrue or assume things based on what they (want to) see, hear or listen to. Being in this line, I have had my share of this. My only words of advice is this: As long as the ones you love, know the truth.... To the rest of the dingbats, screw you and get a life!

Found this statement which rings true:

We can really get messed up in our problem solving and critical thinking if we continue to proceed in our actions based on invalid assumptions. We must always validate and test our assumptions to be sure that our assumptions are based in reality. We must always avoid jumping to assumptions especially if they are negative or illogical. Assumptions lie at the root and foundation of what make critical thinking different from other forms of thinking and problem solving. So pay attention and heed the lessons to be learned in dealing with assumptions.

To the small-minded idiots, you know who you are. Stop assuming. Life is short. Don't worry so much and just LOVE with all your heart. Worry makes you age faster. La la la la...

On a laughing matter, here's something funny

Songsters

A man enters his local bar holding a frog and iguana. He sets them down on the bar and says to the bartender, "I bet you $1000 that my frog here can sing any song you can think of." "Ok," says the bartender. "How 'bout 'Blue Moon'?" The man whispers something to the frog, and the frog starts singing blue moon. "That's amazing," says the bartender as he slaps down $1000.

"I'll bet ya another $1000 that my iguana here can do that to." "Ok, I can believe a frog, but not an iguana. You're on. Have him sing the Star Spangled Banner." The man whispers something to the iguana and it sings the Star Spangled Banner.

As the bartender hands over another $1000, a business man comes up and says, "I just saw that and I was amazed. I want to buy your iguana for $100,000."

The man said ok, and he exchanged the iguana for the money and the business man left. The bartender said "What are you nuts?! You could have made millions with that iguana!"

The man said "Oh, the iguana can't sing. The frog's a ventriloquist."

Psst: Watch Mamma Mia

  1. Correct!

People assume all the time... and little do they realize, most of the time their assumptions are not even close to the truth...

And in addition to that, I do not prefer to discuss things {especially personal stuff} through Msn Messenger or any other relevant chatting programs... Cos people tend to interpret words based on their assumptions and that might lead to deep misunderstandings....

  2. Dear Daphne..

I try as hard as I could to not to assume things as far as possible. Always make reference to facts.. can be quite boring, isn't it?

In fact, I have been termed as rather `square' cause I `lack' imaginations.

I guess, whichever way I look at it, I can never win!!

Thus, my simple motto in life.

    `Mind Over Matter' - If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!!..hehe :)

  4. Quite true that most of us tend to mix up facts & assumptions in life. Especially when those assumptions are what you like to believe in. Normally, I will check the facts first but at times, follow my heart & assumptions. Trying to cut down on the assumptions part. :)

  6. A good post.
Yeah.. Assumptions can easily lead to misunderstandings and if the victim absorbs it too much, one can easily fall into the pit if she/he allows it. Staying focus to your true self is important.

So long we're humans, this judgemental/ assuming habit can be tough to push aside.

    I'm still learning..

    Cheers!
