Duit Kopi...jangan...

WARNING : DON'T OFFER DUIT KOPI FROM NOW ON!
DEAR FRIENDS
If you have ever paid or are thinking of paying ' Coffee Money' when
stopped for traffic or other offences, DON'T EVER Do This Again.
The traffic department (JPJ) has recently started a campaign to be rid
of
corruption. Every Officer on duty will be rewarded with RM100.00 if
they
report each case of bribery to the department.
This is how they do (trick you into) it. They will note down the
details
of your IC/MyKad, and ask you how you want to settle ( 'Macam mana nak
selesai?')
If you indicate yes or even offer to give them any money, they will
report the incident by rejecting your 'Kopi Money' and get the
RM100.00
instead as an incentive for their integrity and 'Honest' pubicity.
This means that You will end up having a summon issued to you and
perhaps
a charge for bribery.
SO DON'T PAY DUIT KOPI AGAIN , especially if you hope to go free with
a
lesser amount of money compared to the fine. Even if you want to pay
over
RM200, the JPJ Officers would rather have a 'good' name than to take
your
kopi money.
Just beware of their trick because the cops are now accumulating
'cookies'
points for their promotion and pay increment - with your help if
possible.
They should have done this to stop corruption long time ago... but
anyway
it's better late than never, right?
SPREAD THIS MESSAGE TO EDUCATE OTHERS ON THIS NEW ANTI-RASUAH POLICY!
AND DON'T YOU DARE TO CORRUPT ANY JPJ OR EVEN POLICE OFFICERS AGAIN!

---------------------------------------------------------------

Another forwarded email sent to me. Quite honestly? I don't know whether to laugh or to frown. Before the whole OPS Pembersihan kao-kao was done with 'eyebrow raising' cynicism (Go catch the bigger fish, some say!), I had my fair share of being cornered to settle my 'defying traffic predicament(s)', the other, simpler, cheaper (crooked?) way.

Yet, much to the chagrin of the officers in charge, I NEVER gave in. Playing the bimbo had its perks. They usually were to lazy to issue me a summon in the end. And even if they did, I would rather pay RM300 than to offer duit kopi (normally RM30 - 100). "Its a win-win situation menace", some argue with me. I stand my ground. No.

And now...if what this email states is true -- they are trying that tactic only to grab brownie points AND moolah?

Tsk...tsk... tsk...

It's like the political wave we are forced to wade or to stay a float with.

Stop it lah... we just want to move on with our lives; just deliver what you promised, look at the bigger picture and for heavens sake, stop all that bickering amongst you! Geez...life is so much easier when there is no power hungry twats out there...(snap fingers)....Grow UP! Can or not?

  1. I agree, Daphne. My friend told me yesterday that he got stopped by a cop because he tinted his car black.

    And guess how it went?

    Cop: "macammana mahu settle?"
    My friend: "RM50 la boss"
Cop: "RM50 mana cukup, seratus la"
My friend: "RM50 je la boss'
Cop: "Laa drive mercedes tapi RM50 je ke?

At the end, he accepted the 50 bucks. Pathetic!

  3. it is so ironic, now the JPJ bribes their own officers by rewarding them rm100 to reject bribery from the public...

  7. hi Daphne. It's Nalina, i called TBS today(Friday, 12/09). I have no problems talking out loud in public. I used to go up on stage in high school and give speeches, dance and act. Even now in college, I have no problems speaking out in public. But when I called TBS today, the moment I was on air, I was shaking so much and my mind went blank(malunya). lol. I didn't expect that at all, but it was a good experience. :)

  8. Hi! Daphne..

In fact the `Saya Anti-Rasuah' badge gave an added advantage to THEM.. They win both ways!! :) :)

  9. hahaha !!!

    1) what if the JPJ officer just simply submit (random pick) our particulars and get the RM100 from the authority? so they will target 2 public a day, means RM200 a day and become RM6000.00 monthly!!! richer than the MP, YB, Daphne, Tan Sri, Dato, Your boss, and My Boss.

this is really a stupid move!! think twice la...it will NOT going to work.

    2) if they are getting RM100 from the authority, then this makes us in a bigger shoes of paying the bribes more than RM100 (now usually is just RM30 to RM100).

You make the decision la. Is really up to individual.

I am a good driver. I just 'speed' ...the other offends, i usually escape. hehehee...

  11. One should never even give in to their 'kopi duit' idea in the first place.
It not only corrupts the system but freely giving in to their easy money strategy will just cause them to be dependant -on our money-and lazier towards their job.

Am quite glad they impose this little rule, gotta start somewhere...

  15. once a friend was stopped while driving me home. her road tax has just expired by less than 30 minutes (yes, 30 minutes!). as usual, "macammane".. all 3 of us in the car only managed TEN pieces of RM1-00! and guess what, the guy accepted, all TEN pieces, leaving us poorer than a pauper! haha.. as my friend was leaving, she suddenly remembered that she'll have to use the same way home and thus, she asked the officer "nanti u stop i ke? i dah takde duit. dah bagi.." and we were told "takpe, i dah ingat nombor u, nanti i bagi u pergi" =.=

  16. Once a friend got stopped over and the policeman asked, "kawan atau tulis?" Personally, I'll never give duit kopi. I rather pay the fine.

And since they rarely check, you can get away without paying the fines for the time being ;)
