Do you have a fussy eater like my Bel?

I LOVE eating and I hate seeing good food go to waste - so when folks tell me that my eldest child Isobel is "so like me" -- I have to disagree. If there is one thing that differenciates us, it is her fussiness when it comes to eating.

My sister Michelle-Ann bought her a gorgeous customized cutlery and plate set for Christmas, which seemed to help Bel (and us) during mealtimes. Unfortunately, it broke. I was so cross with her for being so careless, but then again she IS just 4 years old and it was made of China. Nonetheless, I was against getting her a new set and she had to make do with the "adult plates". But when mealtimes were becoming very frustrating for all (she'd spend an hour or so each time, sometimes even pretending to sleep to escape dinnertime!) and she was losing weight (even when we made her favourite (limited) dishes) -- I was getting worried.

A friend recommended the Trebimbi Collection Cutlery Set from Risio. Each piece of cutlery has been specially designed to make it easy for little ones to learn how to feed themselves. I needed a fast and fun way of getting Bel to eat her meals by herself, without bibik assisting or me nagging at her.

So I went online and decided on the Puppets Club collection for both the girls. I got Isobel involved and she chose the pink set (as expected!). What I liked about the trebimbi is not just the colourful themes and patterns, but it is cleverly designed to stimulate young minds to encourage them to be imaginative and independent. Each cutlery snaps together for easy storage and has various spots to place them -- so for fussy eaters like Bel, it's like 'playtime' in the sense that she gets to choose where to keep her cutleries (like her knife) elsewhere when she's not using it.

The day it arrived, Isobel couldn't wait to open the package. I purposely placed vegetables (she hates her greens) alongside her pasta dish -- to see whether she'd put up a fuss.

Time taken to eat? 20 minutes! Yay! Plus she ate all her veges. So proud of her. Could this be the beginning of a wonderful mealtime relationship for Bel? =)

I think this is a perfect gift for young children. You can order it online (www.risio.co) and they'll gift wrap it with a card at NO extra charge. Awesome huh?
