December 1 is World AIDS Day, and there are plenty of activities, programs and talks lined up to get the world out on eradicating the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS and to raise awareness about preventing the spread of the disease.
Here are two links you can click on to educate and/or volunteer. I just applied, let's get more people on board!
A few months back, I participated in an AIDSAware campaign spearheaded by Ruumz with several other celebs and personalities alike. Ruumz have been working closely with a few interested bodies who are also keen in spreading the awareness on AIDS/HIV. One of them is the Body Shop.
AIDSAware and the Body Shop has finally launched the AIDSAware Calendar 2011 last Thursday, the 25th of November 2010 at Fahrenheit 88 (previously KL Plaza), and based on feedback we received, it was a good one - casual yet informative, and most people who managed to attend it despite the downpour had fun!
The Body Shop has not only gone out of their way to host the launch of the calendars, they have also put up a spectacular windows display for AIDSAware in Fahrenheit 88, and will be exclusively retailing the calendars in all their 57 outlets nationwide until 31st December 2010.
The calendar is absolutely beautiful (but of course, I'm biased) - not just how it looks and feel, but how it managed put together all 42 participants of the photoshoot so wonderfully and elegantly into something that could easily sell at twice the amount (it's retailing at RM29.90).
The AIDSAware team decided to keep the retail price affordable, as the role of the calendar is threefold -
1. To create on-going awareness on HIV & AIDS,
2. To raise funds for the PT Foundation, and
3. To encourage Malaysians to start discussing and openly talk about HIV and AIDS - how we can all keep ourselves safer, and to treat people living with HIV just like we would anyone else.
We hope you can find the time to spread the word among your family, friends and followers about safer sex and non-discromination, to get a copy of the calendar from any of the 57 The Body Shop outlets nationwide, and to take their own picture messages, like I did, and upload it to http://aidsaware.ruumz.com, and finally to share your own picture with your friends and encourage your friends to do the same.
This can be done on Facebook, Twitter, Friendster, Myspace, Linkedin, Blogs, email, IM status messages etc - sometimes I still can't believe the power we have in our hands nowadays, to be able do so little and yet have the potential to achieve so much. Yeah, the internet rocks!!! :D
There is a Photo Exhibition in The Gardens, Mid Valley which has just been confirmed. YESSS!!!! and it will run for TWO WHOLE WEEKS from 24th Feb to 6th March 2011 - If you have seen the Harpers Bazaar Exhibition, you know what's in store, and how amazing it will be :)
Lastly, look out for the videos on ASTRO - we already have ASTROHitz confirmed, but it just may, keeping our fingers crossed, be aired across quite a number of other channels too.
