addiction

[Verse 1]
Want to but I can't help it.
I love the way it feels.
This got me stuck between my fantasy and what is real.
I need it when I want it.
I want it when I don't.
Tell myself I'd stop everyday,
Knowing that I won't

[Hook #1]
I've got a problem and I.. (don't know what to do about it)
Even if I did, I don't know if i would quit
But I doubt it. I'm,
Taken by the thought of it..(mmm mm)

And I know this much is true (mmmmm)
Baby, you have become my addiction.
I'm so strung out on you (mmmm)
I can barely move...but I like it,

[Chorus]
So, then it's all because of you (all because of you)
So, then it's all because of you (all because of you)
And it's all because of you (all because of you)
So, then it's all because...
Never get enough,
She's the sweetest drug. (Oowuuu)

[Verse 2]

Think of it every second,
I can't get nothing done.
Only concern is the next time, I'm 'gon get me some.
Know I should stay away from,
Cause it's no good for me.
I try and try but my obsession, won't let me leave.

[Hook #1]
I've got a problem and I (don't know what to do about it)
Even if I did I don't know if i would quit
But I doubt it. I'm,

Taken by the thought of it. (mmmm) (heeyh..)

And I know this much is true, (mmmm)
Baby, you have become my addiction.
I'm so strung out on you, (strung out on you..)
I can barely move...but I like it, (but I like it..)

[Chorus]
So, then it's all because of you (all because of you) (aey!)
So, then it's all because of you (all because of you)
And it's all because of you (all because of you)
So, then it's all because...
Never get enough (Never get enough..)
She's the sweetest drug.

[Hook #2]
Ain't no doubt.... (no doubt heayh)
So strung out. (Strung out heeayh)
Ain't no doubt....
So strung out. (heahheh!)
Over you,
Over you,(yooouuu)
Over you(yooouuu)...

[Harmonics]
(Mmouhh)

(Because of you)
(And it's all because of you)
(mm)
(Never get enough)
(She's the sweetest drug)

And I know this much is true (Truuuuue)
Baby, you (baby yoou you you you) have become my addiction (become my addiction)
I'm so strung out on you,
I can barely move...but I like it (and I like it..yeaheh..)

[Chorus]
So, then it's all because of you (aey!)(all because of you)
So, then it's all because of you (all because of you)
And it's all because of you (all because of you)
So, then it's all because...
Never get enough (Oooh never get enough)
She's the sweetest drug,

...She's the sweetest drug...

When I first heard this song over the airwaves, I told myself, "what a corny song...such a lollipop song" -- till I (finally) got caught up with its catchy beat. That's when I decided to google the lyrics and found myself nodding approvingly to the "plot" of the song. (It's definitely MUCH better than that stupid song -"Party like a rockstar...." in fact, I thought it was "horny like a rockstar" at first...) =P

Anyway, have you ever had an addiction in life that you finally got over? Or are you still hooked on an addiction that (quite often) ruins you?

Besides the vices of fags, drugs and alcohol, their are many other addictions in life that can cause your life to crash in shambles. Mine was Obsession.

When I found out about a (then) boyfriend infidelities, I became obsessed. I should have just dumped the A-hole but I had this (secret) yearning to "change him". I wanted to prove to myself that I was different from the other girls who became notches on his bedpost (or in his case, his little black book). And to be different, I made sure I remained 'intact'-- if you know what I mean. I became addicted in knowing his whereabouts and I was a real paranoid bitch back then. NOTE. BACK THEN.

After one last straw catching him red-handed, I decided enough was enough. I was then addicted in finding out why people resort to cheating. I tried that path. And heaven forbid, when I decided to do just that -- something I deeply regret -- I knew why you shouldn't play with other people's emotions. I lost a very good friend - and he refuses to speak to me now.

That was many years back, and I am now married and 8 months pregnant. Marriage is indeed a roller coaster ride. And it is not easy. While I was watching Neyo's video, it made me ponder once again why are we addicted to the things that (quite often) ruin us.

Can someone tell me?

  1. I think we're always addicted to things that are bad for us. Whoever heard of people addicted to cucumbers and bitter gourds? For eating of course! It's pure human nature to want what you can't have. Many people love the chase and doing things that is forbidden to do. Plus love is blind, it's like a reversed tinted window where only outsiders can see in and people inside can't see out.

It all started with Eve eating the Forbidden Fruit Daph.

So don't beat yourself up over past mistakes because you've learnt from it and now you can move on with your life.

Appreciate the present and think of the past as a lesson.

    Love you Daphne.

  3. The more you are deprived of something, the more you want it. The more restricted you are, the more you push to gain freedom and independence. It is a balancing act. Yin & Yang. These people have yet to touch base with reality, and master the art of contentment. It takes time to grow up, although some people never will. It is just their nature.

  4. these bad things are simply temptations in life which we can choose to fight over or simply succumbed to.

  8. it's a cliche, but to err is human. i just had to add to the comments already made. if it's any consolation, being obsessive is probably one of the things that is least ruin-ful.

anyway, look how you turned out! i would never have guessed the other past side of you...thank you for sharing...

  9. Happiness is on the bus, and you've already missed that bus.

So while waiting for the next bus to arrive (with happiness onboard it, hopefully), you get addicted to things, ruining yourself in the process, hoping that things will get better once you catch that bus.
